Our story
Born from too many stale bagels.
The Lewin boys had attended enough shivas to know exactly what was missing — and decided to do something about it.
We've been to those shivas.
Like a lot of Jewish families in Chicago, the Lewin boys grew up going to shivas. And like a lot of Jewish families, they kept running into the same problem: stale bagels, bad pickles, and corned beef that had no business being on a shiva table.
After one too many disappointing spreads at moments that deserved so much better, they made a decision. If they were going to show up for their community — really show up — they were going to do it right.
The Shiva Boys was built on a simple belief: that the food at a shiva should be a source of comfort, not an afterthought. That a grieving family shouldn't have to worry about whether the lox is fresh or the kugel is warm. That someone should take care of it — all of it — so the people who matter most can just be together.
What we believe
Quality that honors the moment
Every dish we prepare is made with care and intention. Because the food at a shiva is part of how a community shows up for one another.
Full-service, no stress
We handle everything — menu planning, preparation, delivery, and setup. Families shouldn't have to coordinate logistics during the hardest days.
Rooted in tradition
We know what belongs on a shiva table. Classic deli, warm comfort food, and the kind of baked goods that feel like a hug.
Let us take it from here.
Reach out and we'll handle every detail — so your family can focus on what matters most.
